Montpelier is Offering Special Tours January 13-15

During Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, Montpelier will be offering tours 10 AM-3 PM. The schedule is:

Saturday-Monday hourly at 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.: "Highlights of Montpelier Tour" - Guided tour of the House
Saturday-Monday @1:30: "Montpelier's Enslaved Community" - Guided outdoor tour with purchase of property pass or House tour

Saturday, January 13 - Conviction & Conscience: James Madison and the Pursuit of Religious Freedom
  • Time:  1:00pm - 2:30pm
  • Location:  James Madison's Montpelier, David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center, Grand Salon
  • Cost:  Lectures are free but registration is required
  • Add-on Tour: Conviction and Conscience House Tour @ 3:00pm for $20/person - In this specialty 45-minute tour of the House, explore how and why James Madison's convictions led him to pursue the establishment of religious liberty in this nation. Trace Madison's thoughts and contributions from his earliest days drafting the first Virginia Declaration of Rights to the passage of the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment.
Sunday-Monday @11:30: "Journey from Slavery to Freedom Tour" - Guided walking and driving tour will visit historic sites near the mansion as well as the Gilmore Cabin and the 1910 Train Depot.
